Vertige Media takes the protection of personal information seriously. This policy explains what personal information we may process when you use our website, why we use it, who it may be shared with, and what rights you have.
1. Data controller
Vertige Company, a French société par actions simplifiée unipersonnelle (SASU) with share capital of €1,000, registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 927 471 334 and with its registered office at 28 rue de Saint-Petersbourg, 75008 Paris, France, is the data controller for the processing described in this policy.
For questions about your personal information or to exercise your rights, email contact@vertigemedia.fr.
2. Information we may process
Depending on how you use Vertige Media, we may process:
- information you provide directly to us, including your email address, account information, or the content of a message;
- information needed to manage your newsletter subscription;
- information needed to manage a support contribution or subscription;
- certain technical data needed to operate and secure the website and your account.
We do not seek to collect more personal information than is needed for the purposes described in this policy.
3. Account and sign-in
When you create or use a Vertige Media account, we process the information needed to identify you, manage your account, and allow you to sign in.
This processing is necessary to provide the service you request. We also use certain technical data to secure accounts, prevent abuse, and keep the service operating properly.
Sign in with Google
If you choose to sign in with your Google Account, Google provides us with the information needed to identify you: a unique account identifier, your email address and, when available, your name and certain profile information.
We use this information only to create or find your Vertige Media account and authenticate you.
Vertige Media does not receive or store your Google password, does not access the contents of Gmail, Google Drive, or your other Google services, and does not store Google access tokens.
4. Newsletter
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send the communications you chose to receive.
This processing is based on your consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time, including by using the unsubscribe link in our emails.
We use Brevo to manage newsletter subscriptions and delivery. Brevo processes certain information on our behalf for those purposes.
5. Support and payments
When you support Vertige Media, we may process the information needed to manage your contribution, subscription and, where applicable, related supporter benefits.
Payments are handled through Stripe. The banking information required to make a payment is processed directly by Stripe. Vertige Media does not store your full payment card details.
Stripe may provide us with information needed to manage your payment and support, such as your identity, contact details, payment or subscription status, and relevant transaction references.
6. Purposes and legal bases
Depending on the processing involved, we rely on the following legal bases:
- performance of the service you request to create, manage, and authenticate your account;
- your consent for newsletter communications and, where required, for certain tracking technologies;
- our legitimate interests in securing the website, preventing abuse, and protecting our services;
- performance of the requested transaction to manage your support contribution or subscription;
- compliance with our legal obligations, including accounting and tax requirements.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
7. Service providers and recipients
Your personal information is accessible only to people who need it within Vertige Media and to service providers required to operate our services.
These providers may include hosting, email, authentication, and payment providers such as Brevo, Google, and Stripe, and receive only the information needed for their role.
Vertige Media does not sell personal information.
8. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Some of our service providers may process information from countries outside the European Economic Area.
Where such a transfer takes place, it must rely on a mechanism recognized by applicable data protection law, such as an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or another recognized safeguard.
You may request additional information about applicable safeguards by emailing contact@vertigemedia.fr.
9. Cookies and local storage
Vertige Media uses cookies and similar technologies where they are necessary to operate the website, including to sign users in and maintain a secure session.
The website may also store certain information locally in your browser where this is needed for the interface to work, for example to remember the temporary state of certain campaigns or display elements.
Strictly necessary technologies are not used for advertising and may be used without consent where permitted by applicable law.
Total measurement
Vertige counts measured page loads without cookies, browser storage, or persistent identifiers. Path, language, page type, and an optional content identifier are aggregated by day. A random deduplication key is deleted after forty-eight hours; aggregate statistics are retained long term.
Consented measurement
With your Analytics permission, Vertige also measures sessions, reading engagement, and strictly defined interactions using pseudonymous identifiers. Detailed records are retained for one hundred eighty days. You may withdraw permission at any time; consented collection stops and browser identifiers are deleted.
Aggregate history
If earlier Wix or GA4 statistics are imported, they remain aggregated, separate from Media measurements, and associated with their source and definition.
Additional information is available in our Cookie Policy.
10. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected and, where necessary, for longer periods required by law or needed to protect our rights.
In particular:
- account information is retained for the life of the account. An account with no authenticated activity for three years may be deleted after prior notice, unless longer retention is required;
- a Google identity linked to an account is retained for the life of the account or until it is unlinked;
- an email sign-in link is valid for fifteen minutes. Related technical records are deleted no later than thirty days after the link is used or expires;
- a sign-in session expires after thirty days of inactivity and may not remain valid for more than one hundred eighty days in total. Technical records for expired or revoked sessions are deleted within ninety days. Deleting a session does not delete the account or information associated with it;
- newsletter information is retained while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, the minimum information needed to honor your opt-out and document your choices may be retained for three years;
- information needed to manage a support contribution or subscription is retained for the relationship and, where needed to protect our rights, for up to five years. Accounting records subject to statutory retention rules are kept for ten years from the end of the relevant financial year;
- messages and contact requests are generally retained for three years after the last exchange;
- information stored only for a browser session is removed at the end of that session. Persistent local interface preferences are not retained for more than six months once they are no longer needed.
11. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, and misuse.
No transmission method or infrastructure can guarantee absolute security.
12. Your rights
Depending on the processing involved and its legal basis, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to the processing of, or receive a portable copy of your personal information.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time.
To exercise your rights or ask a question about your personal information, email contact@vertigemedia.fr.
You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL).
13. Automated decision-making
Vertige Media does not use the processing described in this policy to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our services, service providers, or legal obligations. The date of the latest update appears at the top of this page.
