Manifesto

Vertige Media does not talk about climbing.

We are talking about a social, cultural and political fact.

Climbing is booming: 25 million practitioners in 10 years, a market worth €2 billion worldwide. This unprecedented growth should make us question its complex mechanisms, its excesses, and its inequalities. It's time that, beyond a press focused on performance, a media outlet emerges with a critical eye on the discipline.

Our vision? To expand the scope of climbing and make you think about your climbing. To reveal what it says about our collective aspirations, our contradictions, our mutations. To defend a practice open to all—regardless of gender, disability, or origin—that is respectful of the environment and free from purely commercial logic. To advocate a joyful, festive, and therapeutic form of climbing. In short, to place climbers at the center of today's world issues: social, economic, environmental, and political.

We're aimed at enthusiasts seeking meaning beyond performance. Critical experts, industry professionals, and new climbers: those who see climbing as a vehicle for social change, a way of inhabiting the world.

In-depth investigations, XXL portraits, gigantic interviews, in-depth analyses... our media outlet covers editorial topics as precise as they are unexplored. On Vertige Media, you'll read in-depth investigations into the behind-the-scenes workings of the climbing industry, analyses of the sport's societal and ecological impact, long-term profiles of legends, and others of invisible climbers.

We talk about what works and what doesn't. We are a free, committed, and independent media outlet. We created it with an authentic, human, and irreverent tone.
