Climbing as a Family in the Dolomites – A Dream Realised 🏔️🧗‍♀️✨ The Dolomites have been on our climbing bucket list for over a decade, and finally getting to climb here as a family was nothing short of a dream come true. These iconic mountains are home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes and climbing routes in the world, and sharing this adventure with the kids made it even more special. This film is a particularly special one for me, Kirsty, as a climbing mum. I sent my hardest route since returning to climbing with kids, something I once thought was impossible. But here we are - it turns out that climbing and adventure travel can go hand in hand with family after all. So to any parents wondering if they can keep up an adventurous lifestyle with kids, I hope this speaks to you. It’s not always easy balancing motherhood, climbing, travel, work, and homeschooling, but it's proving to be worth it for me, Hardin and for the kids. Deep water soloing gets particularly spicy when the sea is rough and big waves are rolling in towards the coast. In June 1986, Patrick Gabarrou and Hervé Bouvard opened the Walker Directissime in the Grandes Jorasses north face. A masterpiece of difficulty in a 1200 m big wall.Nobody tried it since 37 years. In February 2023, three French mountaineers try to free climb it and to make the first winter ascent of this route. Climbing is rarely a team sport, but for Neil Gresham and Anak Verhoeven, collaboration was key to their '24/8s' challenge in the Lake District. Inspired by Dave MacLeod and Dan Turner, who both completed multidisciplinary rounds in the UK, Neil set out to create a similar challenge. His ambitious goal was to complete a V8 boulder problem, an E8 trad route, an 8a sport climb, a D8 dry-tooling route, and hike eight Wainwright summits—all within 24 hours. “Straight 8s” is a tale of partnership, perseverance, and the unyielding human spirit, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Lake District.
